Less than one week until Data Privacy Day; are you safe on your social network?

Less than one week until Data Privacy Day is here (January 28th, 2011). The NCSA would like to highlight the importance of social networking safety on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and others.

According to the 2010 NCSA / Norton by Symantec Online Safety Study, 63% of respondents said that they regularly use a social networking site on their home computer. Social networking sites are a great way to stay in touch with loved ones and exchange ideas, but you should limit the amount of personal data you share. Remember: STOP. THINK. CONNECT.  STOP: Before you use the Internet, take time to understand the risks. THINK: take a moment to be certain the path ahead is clear. CONNECT: Enjoy the Internet with greater confidence, knowing that you’ve taken the right steps to safeguard yourself. How can you employ this principle on your social networking sites?
